Iran’s Joint Military Command announced today that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed once again, citing continued Israeli military operations in Lebanon and what it described as US bad faith and a failure to uphold commitments aimed at ending the conflict.
In a statement broadcast on state television, the command warned that further measures have been prepared if what it called aggression continues.
The move comes after commercial shipping had resumed through the strategic waterway following an interim agreement between the United States and Iran earlier this week.
Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon killed at least 16 people, including two children. The strikes occurred just hours after reports surfaced of a ceasefire agreement. Lebanon’s National News Agency said the attacks targeted the city of Nabatiyeh and several nearby villages, adding that at least seven people were believed to be trapped beneath the rubble.
