An Interstate Co-ordination Meeting was held today at the Delhi Police Headquarters ahead of the Independence Day Celebrations-2026 to strengthen co-operation and co-ordination among various Law Enforcement Agencies and to address issues related to ensuring incident-free Independence Day celebrations. Chaired by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar, the meeting was attended by senior police officers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, along with senior officers from Central Intelligence and Enforcement Agencies.
Addressing the meeting, the Delhi Police Commissioner emphasized the need to formulate a joint action plan and strategy for coordinated action against organized crime and to ensure seamless coordination among all law enforcement agencies for foolproof security arrangements during the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations. He also highlighted the importance of ground-level coordination in border areas, continuous monitoring of social media and prompt action on intelligence inputs relating to potential threats. Special emphasis was also laid on tackling emerging trends in drug trafficking and the illegal supply of arms.
During the meeting, senior officers shared intelligence inputs and discussed anti-terror measures, including border checking, verification of suspicious individuals, and other preventive measures. Issues related to the movement of paragliders, drones, and other flying objects in open areas were also discussed. Deliberations were also held on traffic restrictions during the Independence Day celebrations and measures to prevent unauthorized intrusion at interstate borders. Timely sharing of advance information regarding the movement of suspicious persons and vehicles were also discussed during the meeting. Further, the meeting focused on social media monitoring, interstate gangs operating in the National Capital Region, and incidents relating to the supply of illegal firearms and narcotics.
