The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples was observed with enthusiasm across Maharashtra today, with thousands of members of tribal communities participating in celebrations in Nagpur and other districts.
In Nagpur, people from the city and neighbouring areas paid tributes at the Gond King Bakht Buland Shah Memorial and the Adivasi Gowari Martyrs’ Memorial near Vidhan Bhavan.
The celebrations featured cultural programmes and awareness activities aimed at preserving tribal heritage, promoting indigenous languages and traditions, and raising awareness about the rights and welfare of tribal communities.
Similar celebrations were held in Gadchiroli and Gondia, where tribal communities in traditional attire showcased their rich cultural heritage through folk dances and other cultural performances.
