On the occasion of International Day of Older Persons 2026, a program was organized at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. Lectures and street plays were arranged in the Cultural Centre to raise awareness about health-related issues concerning older persons and their overall health and well-being.
This year’s theme for International Day of Older Persons is The Age of Longevity: Rethinking Systems for Longer Lives. UN Secretary General Antonnio Guterres, in his message, said that elders are leaders and caregivers, who play a vital role in families, communities and economies.
The Day calls on Governments, civil society, the private sector, researchers and older persons themselves to examine how societies can ensure that the additional years gained translate into healthy, productive, dignified and equitable lives for all.
