Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has emphasised the need for deeper integration of traditional knowledge with modern science and medicine to widen its reach and societal impact. The Minister said this during his visit to the CSIR-Traditional Knowledge Digital Library, or CSIR-TKDL, in New Delhi.
Dr. Singh stressed the need for greater outreach and a wider scope of work in the field of traditional knowledge. He said traditional knowledge should increasingly be connected with institutions and disciplines across science and medicine, as India moves towards a more integrated approach to research and innovation. He observed that India’s advanced scientific and technological capabilities, along with its extensive traditional knowledge base, provide an opportunity to develop a more integrated approach to research and innovation.
Dr. Singh expressed confidence that the library can further enhance the relevance and impact of India’s rich traditional knowledge repository.
