India’s Women’s Squash team reached the Asian Games semifinals with a 2-0 win over Singapore today, assuring a medal for the country. Tanvi Khanna beat Au Yeong Wai Iynn 11-6, 4-11, 15-13, 11-1 before Anahat Singh defeated Au Yeong Wai Yhann 11-7, 11-3, 11-4. Veteran Joshna Chinappa did not need to play. India will face its Semifinal opponent at Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena tomorrow. India had topped Pool C after wins over China, Japan and Iran.

 

In Men’s Greco-Roman Wrestling, Sunil Kumar advanced to the Semifinals of 87 kg category today after defeating Tajikistan’s Muhammad Sultonzoda 9-0 by technical superiority in the first period. The 2023 Hangzhou bronze medalist dominated the bout and sealed victory with consecutive gut-wrench moves after Sultonzoda was placed in the par terre position. Sunil is likely to face Japan’s Taizo Yoshida in the Semifinals. However, in the Women’s 68 kg round of 16, Nisha Dahiya lost to North Korea’s Pak Sol Gum.
