Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that India’s future mobility ecosystem will not rely on a single technology. Mr Puri said, the ecosystem will combine EVs, biofuels, hydrogen, and renewables in a manner suited to Indian realities. He said this while addressing the launch of Hero Motocorp’s first flex fuel motorcycle in New Delhi.
The Petroleum Minister said that ethanol blending has saved about foreign exchange worth 1.84 lakh crore rupees, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and supporting income of Indian farmers. Mr Puri underlined that the country has progressed from 1.5 per cent blending in 2014 to about 20 per cent today. The Petroleum Minister said that the launch marks India’s entry into mass-market flex-fuel mobility. He said that the Government is actively examining supportive policy frameworks to accelerate affordable adoption of increased blending in fuel.
