India’s Exports Rise to 866 Billion USD Over 12 Years: Commerce Ministry

India’s exports have increased from 466 billion USD to 866 billion USD over the last 12 years. This information was shared by Saket Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, during a workshop for exporters held in Jaipur today.


He said that exports have recorded a growth of 5.7 percent during this period. The services sector has witnessed a remarkable increase of over 9 percent in exports. Significant growth has also been registered in the export of engineering goods and electronic products in recent years.


Mr. Kumar briefed exporters on the opportunities arising from the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) signed with various countries in recent years. He explained how these agreements are helping Indian businesses gain better access to international markets.


His visit was part of the outreach programme being organized to mark 12 years of the Central Government. Speaking to the media after the workshop, Mr. Kumar said that the Free Trade Agreements have opened new avenues and opportunities for Indian exporters.
