India’s energy demand expected to grow 2.5 times by 2047: Hardeep Puri

Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today said that country is not merely a participant in the global energy landscape but is increasingly shaping it as the world’s third-largest consumer of energy and oil. The Minister said that India is the third-largest refiner and fourth-largest LNG importer. He said this while interacting with senior officers of the Indian Foreign Service.

In a social media post, Mr Puri said that the country’s energy demand is expected to grow 2.5 times by 2047, accounting for around 25 percent of incremental global demand. The Minister underlined that transformative reforms have strengthened domestic capabilities, diversified energy sources, deepened strategic partnerships and accelerated country’s transition towards cleaner energy over the past decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
