Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India’s economy is playing a major role in driving global growth. Addressing the Indian community at Jakarta in Indonesia this evening, Mr. Modi said the government is working on the mantra of Reform, Perform and Transform. He asserted that India is a nation with more than a billion dreams in motion and is making rapid strides in sectors ranging from energy and connectivity to semiconductor manufacturing.
The Prime Minister said India’s journey towards self-reliance is becoming a multiplying force not only for Indonesia but for the entire ASEAN region. He stressed that India and Indonesia share a common vision of development and cannot afford to wait or slow down.
Referring to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s remark that he has Indian DNA, Mr. Modi said the DNA of India-Indonesia ties is built on mutual trust, shared history and deep civilisational links. He said the relations between the two countries are rooted in centuries-old cultural and historical bonds.
The Prime Minister said the highest civilian honour Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia conferred on him by the country is another symbol of the close friendship between the two nations. At the event, Mr. Modi described Indonesian President Subianto as a true friend of India.
