Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India’s BRICS chairship is advancing sustainable development through people-centric climate action. Sharing an article written by Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav, the Prime Minister said that India’s progress in reducing emissions intensity and expanding non-fossil energy capacity reinforces a sustainable and green approach. Mr Modi also highlighted the Government’s focus on measures such as sustainable lifestyles, afforestation, circular economy and community-based adaptation.
In his article, the Union Environment Minister said that India has focused on promoting sustainable lifestyles, built on the principles of Mission LiFE, complemented by a priority on afforestation, forest fire management, and disaster resilience as well as people-centric adaptation built on traditional knowledge. Mr Yadav also underlined how BRICS, under India’s chairship, is working for a future that puts the planet first in its collective growth story and resilient development built on innovation and shared knowledge.
