India’s bioeconomy projected to reach 300 billion dollars by 2030: Union Minister Jitendra Singh

Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said that a thriving bioeconomy will strengthen the country’s health and food security, boost vaccine development, create high-skilled jobs and promote the Vocal for Local initiative. Addressing the launch of the roadmap titled Building India as a Leading Bioeconomy Powerhouse by 2035 in New Delhi, Dr Singh said the 21st century belongs to biotechnology.

He said India is among the few countries with a dedicated biotechnology policy, BioE3. He added that the country’s bioeconomy has grown from around 10 billion US dollars in 2014 to nearly 195 billion US dollars. The Minister said the bioeconomy is projected to reach 300 billion US dollars by 2030.
