World Junior Squash Championships: Anahat Singh storms into women’s Qrtfinals

In Squash, top-seeded Indian player Anahat Singh stormed into the Women’s quarterfinals of World Junior Individual Championships at Ontario in Canada today. Anahat, a bronze medallist from last year, defeated Malaysian Doyce Ye San Lee, 11-4, 11-8, 11-3. She will next take on Egyptian Habiba Rizk.
However, in the Men’s section, India’s Aryaveer Dewan lost to the American Yaseen Shalaby in straight games, 4-11, 1-11, 5-11.
At the Championships, the individual competition will conclude on Saturday and will be followed by the Men’s and Women’s team events from 26th to 31st of this month at the same venue.
India’s men’s team heads into the competition after winning bronze in Cairo last year, ending a 13-year medal drought at the championships.
