Indian men’s junior team reach semi-finals of Asia Hockey Cup

The Indian men’s junior hockey team has entered the semi-finals of the Junior Hockey Asia Cup in Moqi, China. The five-time champions thrashed Chinese Taipei 15-nil today to seal the top spot in Pool A. India finished with 10 points from three wins and a draw. Captain Anmol Ekka was the star of the match, scoring six goals. He found the net in the 25th, 29th, 32nd, 33rd, 45th and 51st minutes, all from penalty corners. Aryan Zes scored a hat-trick, while Harpal struck twice. Prabhdeep Singh, Gurusewak Singh, Arjun Santosh Hargude and Ajit Yadav scored one goal each.

Meanwhile, the Indian junior women’s hockey team has reached the quarter-finals after playing out a goalless draw against China in their final Elite Pool match. India will face arch-rivals Pakistan in the quarter-final on Thursday.
