Indian delegation visits Doha for India-Qatar Joint Working Group Meeting

India and Qatar have committed to resolve all obstacles hindering bilateral trade. In a Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting, an Indian delegation from the Department of Commerce and other Ministries and organisations met with their Qatari counterparts in Doha on 10th of this month.

In the meeting both sides reviewed progress on ongoing discussions regarding Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on Food Safety and Cooperation in exchanging pre-arrival information to facilitate trade and customs control on goods. Both sides identified several sectors including Gems and Jewellery, trade in local currency, pharmaceuticals, food processing, cooperation in MSME to further strengthen their bilateral relations.

India is the second largest trading partner of Qatar. The trade between India and Qatar stood at over 14 Billion US Dollars in the year 2023-24. India and Qatar agreed to hold next meeting of the JWG in 2025, in New Delhi.
