Indian Cultural Association in Sri Lanka celebrates Onam at Colombo

The Indian Cultural Association (ICA) in Sri Lanka celebrated Onam at Colombo. The celebration of the harvest festival of Kerala, which symbolises prosperity, secularism and harmony, featured cultural performances on the relevance and importance of Onam. The traditional Pookkalam and Onam Sadya were the highlights of the celebration. The members of the Indian community enjoyed enactment of the story of King Mahabali. In addition, the traditional Kasavu sarees and Mundu were worn by the members of ICA to give the celebrations a traditional appeal. President of ICA Captain Anirban Bannerjee said the celebration of the Indian festivals by ICA would help the children to relate, and remember the glorious  cultural heritage of India.
