Indian companies have secured significant contracts in Sri Lanka’s infrastructure and energy sectors, reflecting growing economic engagement between the two neighbours. Lanka IOC PLC, the Sri Lankan subsidiary of Indian Oil Corporation, secured a contract worth 392.47 million Sri Lankan rupees to supply 3 lakh 16 thousand litres of lubricating oil to the Sapugaskanda Power Station’s Plant A for 2026-27.
In related development, Sri Lanka’s Cabinet has approved the award of a 6.04 million US dollars or around 50 crore rupees, contract to India’s RS Infraprojects Pvt Ltd for the construction of Lot A of the Mullikulam Wind Power Transmission Project. The project includes a grid substation input structure and associated 220 kV cable infrastructure. The contract was awarded through an international competitive bidding process in which four firms participated. The awards underscore the expanding role of Indian firms in supporting Sri Lanka’s infrastructure, renewable energy and power sectors.
