Indian Army raises first Baaz Battalion of sophisticated drones in Punjab

The Indian Army has raised its first Baaz Battalion of sophisticated drones in the border state of Punjab to enhance aerial agility, responsiveness and battlefield reach. The battalion will serve as the eyes in the sky and provide an edge on the battlefield.

Akashvani correspondent reports that the Vajra Corps, or 11 Corps of the Army, known as the defenders of Punjab, is the first formation to operationalise the Baaz Battalion. The name ‘Baaz’ has been derived from a bird of prey.

In a social media post on ‘X’, the General Officer Commanding of the Vajra Corps, along with all ranks, wished the battalion on its raising day. Interacting with Baaz aviators and warriors, the GOC emphasised that technology, innovation and operational excellence will sharpen the aerial edge for the future battlefield.
