Expressing a sense of urgency on the escalating crisis of human rights violations in Bangladesh, an Indian American Congressman has called on the US Departments of Treasury and State to impose and enforce sanctions on those perpetrating these heinous acts against minorities in Bangladesh. Indian American Congressman Shri Thanedar said, Bangladesh plunged into political turmoil since ouster of Sheikh Haseena government. He said, the Hindu, Buddhist and Christian minorities are bearing the brunt of violent acts towards their people and places of worship by a majority Muslim population. Addressing a gathering of Hindu Americans in front of the US Capitol, the congressman called upon the Departments of Treasury and State to impose and enforce sanctions on those perpetrating these heinous acts against minorities in Bangladesh.
Moreover, Mr. Thanedar also claimed that with US’s assistance, Bangladesh can find a peaceful resolution to these conflicts. Shri Thanedar is an Indian-born American businessman and politician serving as the US representative from Michigan’s 13th congressional district since 2023.
