Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that the country has consistently ensured the safety and well-being of its citizens stranded in different parts of the world during the crisis. Addressing an event in Berlin in Germany, Mr Goyal said that while many countries issue travel advisories during emergencies, India takes concrete steps to bring its citizens back home at the time of need. He said that India has also helped in evacuating citizens of other countries alongside Indians.
On the evacuation drive during the Ukraine war, Mr Goyal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally supervised the evacuation efforts, setting up a dedicated team in New Delhi to coordinate operations and provide continuous guidance. He said that four senior ministers were deputed to neighbouring countries to facilitate the evacuation. He said these efforts reflect the country’s commitment in protecting its citizens and ensuring their safe return during difficult and challenging circumstances.
