India, South Korea reaffirm commitment to strengthen cooperation in public administration

India and South Korea have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in public administration and digital governance. Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today held bilateral talks with the Minister of Interior and Safety of South Korea, Yun Hojung, in New Delhi.

The discussion focused on cooperation between the two countries in the fields of digital governance, E-government, public administration, capacity building, and citizen-centric service delivery. Referring to the Joint Strategic Vision Statement, which was finalised when President of South Korea Lee Jae Myung visited India in April this year, Dr Singh said that both countries share a Special Strategic Partnership founded on common democratic values, innovation, and a commitment to good governance.

During the meeting, Dr Singh said that India and South Korea are both vibrant democracies with shared values, heritage and commitment to the rule of law. He also highlighted India’s initiatives such as the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System, Digital Life Certificate and the use of technology-enabled governance platforms to improve service delivery and transparency.

Dr Singh also mentioned that both countries are in active discussion for the finalisation of a Memorandum of Understanding to promote cooperation in the field of public administration and government innovation. During the meeting, both sides emphasised the importance of strengthening people-to-people contacts and institutional partnerships to address emerging governance challenges and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing India-South Korea cooperation for promoting efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric governance.
