India and Seychelles have recognised the fisheries sector and the broader blue economy as critical pillars for driving economic growth, generating rural employment, and fostering sustainable development.
The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying convened a high- level bilateral meeting with the Seychelles delegation led by the Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Blue Economy of Seychelles, Wallace Cosgrow.
The meeting held yesterday in New Delhi brought together senior officials and institutional representatives from both the nations to review existing frameworks, explore fresh avenues of mutual interest and establish a robust collaborative road map for sustainable marine resource utilization.
During the discussion, the Indian delegation underscored the deep-rooted maritime partnership between the two nations, reiterating India’s steadfast commitment to expanding technical cooperation in fisheries, aquaculture, advanced scientific research, and capacity-building.
Both sides noted that their close alignment remains vital for advancing socio-economic stability, food and nutritional security across the Indian Ocean Region.
The high-level meeting concluded on a highly constructive and optimistic note, reaffirming a shared vision to translate diplomatic commitments into impactful, result-oriented action plans that secure long-term maritime prosperity for both India and Seychelles.
