India, Saudi Arabia Sign MoU to Boost Cooperation in Water Resources

India and Saudi Arabia have taken another step towards strengthening their strategic partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in water resources during the Saudi Water Week in Jeddah.

The agreement was signed by India’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Suhel Khan, and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen AlFadley. The signing took place on the sidelines of Saudi Water Week, a major international platform focused on sustainable water management and innovation.

The Memorandum of Understanding is aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in water resources planning, sustainable water management, irrigation systems, capacity building, and the exchange of technical expertise and best practices.

Officials said the agreement will also promote collaboration in areas related to efficient water use and long-term water security, reflecting the shared commitment of both countries to address growing water challenges.

The initiative is expected to support knowledge sharing between institutions and encourage joint efforts in developing sustainable solutions for water conservation and resource management.

It also complements the expanding India-Saudi Arabia strategic partnership, which has witnessed growing cooperation across sectors including energy, trade, investment, technology, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.

Consul General of India in Jeddah, Fahad Suri, was also present at the signing ceremony. The agreement is expected to deepen institutional ties between the two countries and contribute to sustainable development through closer cooperation in the water sector.
