India-Russia joint military exercise INDRA 2026 underway in Russia

The joint India-Russia military exercise, INDRA 2026, is currently underway in Russia, featuring coordinated naval, land, and air operations. The naval component has begun its harbour phase in Vladivostok, following a planning conference between the operational teams of the Indian Naval Ship INS Sahyadri and the Russian Navy ship Aldar Tsydenzhapov.

The practical maritime phase will be held in the Sea of Japan from October 16 to 17. Participating warships will carry out tactical manoeuvres, artillery firing drills against sea and aerial targets, inspection operations, and rehearsals to liberate a vessel simulated to have been seized by terrorists.

Meanwhile, the land component is taking place in Russia’s Chelyabinsk Region and the Far East, and will continue until October 23. Troops are practising joint operations to destroy illegal armed groups, supported by air force crews operating Su-30SM tactical aircraft and Mi-8 military helicopters for air combat, special forces deployment, and search-and-rescue missions..
