Government today reiterated that the welfare and security of Indian seafarers community is of high priority for India.
Briefing the media in New Delhi, Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Randhir Jaiswal said that India continues to closely follow developments in West Asia.
Talking about an incident involving two foreign-flagged vessel, Mr Jaiswal said all 22 seafarers are safe, and the Government is in touch with the relevant officials regarding this matter to ensure their safety and well-being.
On Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth’s Nepal visit, the Spokesperson said that during his visit the Army Chief was conferred the rank of Honorary General. He noted that this reflects the longstanding friendship between the two countries and their armed forces.
On the visit of MEA Secretary Sripriya Ranganathan to Palestine, the MEA Spokesperson said that during her visit she conveyed India’s commitment to be a strong development partner for Palestine. He added that the Secretary also handed over a consignment of life-saving medicines to the Palestinian government for the people of Palestine for their health needs.
