Director of National Highways for Electric Vehicles (NHEV), Abhijeet Sinha, today said India is moving towards a new era of smart, connected and sustainable mobility through the development of electric and electronically enabled highways. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Mr Sinha said the initiative aims to improve ease of mobility, road safety and logistics efficiency while strengthening India’s electric mobility ecosystem.

 

Highlighting the government’s vision for future-ready mobility infrastructure under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Mr Sinha said NHEV has been working on country’s electric highway model since 2018-19. He added that the proposed highway ecosystem will integrate electric charging infrastructure, intelligent digital systems and emergency response mechanisms to create safer, more efficient and technology-driven transport networks.
