India’s men’s and women’s teams have stormed into the finals of the inaugural Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship being held in Ahmedabad.
In the women’s semi-finals yesterday, India registered a convincing 39-14 victory over Sri Lanka, taking a commanding 24-7 lead at half-time. Uganda edged past Kenya 23-21 in the other semi-final.
The women’s final between India and Uganda will be played at 7:30 PM Indian Standard Time today. The two teams will meet again following their group-stage encounter, in which India registered a 41-18 victory.
Meanwhile, the Indian men’s team stormed into the final with a dominant 56-27 win over Bangladesh in the semi-finals. In the other semi-final, Sri Lanka defeated Kenya 28-24. The men’s final between India and Sri Lanka will take place at 9 PM today.
