India and Japan today discussed strengthening defence technology cooperation, joint military exercises and regional security in the Indo-Pacific. The discussions took place in New Delhi between Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and a visiting delegation of Japanese parliamentarians led by Liberal Democratic Party leader Taro Kono. The Ministry of Defence said both sides held a productive exchange of views on enhancing bilateral defence technology collaboration and cooperation for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.

The Japanese delegation, visiting India under the India-Japan Distinguished Visitors Programme, also discussed economic security, supply-chain resilience, trade, investment, technology and innovation with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. The delegation also visited IISc, ISRO and Bharat Electronics Limited in Bengaluru, highlighting the growing cooperation between India and Japan in AI, space, defence and technology.
