India has issued a safety advisory for its nationals residing in or travelling to France, urging them to remain vigilant amid violent protests, localised curfews and possible disruptions to public transport. In a statement, the Indian Embassy in France advised Indian citizens to avoid large gatherings and areas witnessing demonstrations and to follow instructions issued by local authorities.
The Embassy also asked travellers to monitor official updates and check for transport disruptions. It advised those planning trips to or within France to remain in contact with their airlines and travel agencies for information on schedule changes. Indian Embassy has provided emergency contact details +33 6 48 34 00 and +33 7 43 16 25 59 in case of any emergency.
The advisory comes amid nationwide protests in France. The French government has pledged to take all necessary measures to prevent further violence during fresh demonstrations scheduled for the 24th of this month.
Earlier, President Macron said that the government will use all available legal means to prevent a recurrence of violent incidents. However, he said that a state of emergency is not necessary at this stage, though it can be considered if required.
