The project, implemented with grant assistance from the Government of India, covers all 25 districts of Sri Lanka and aims to provide housing for 600 low-income families, with each model village consisting of 24 houses per district. With this handover, model villages have now been inaugurated in 22 districts. Overall project progress stands at nearly 98.6 per cent, with the remaining three model villages expected to be handed over soon.
