India declares one-day national mourning to honour Qatar’s Father Amir

India has declared a one-day national mourning today as a mark of respect for the Father Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, who passed away yesterday.
 
The National Flag will be flown at half-mast across India on all buildings where it is regularly flown. There will be no official entertainment on the day of mourning.
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed condolences on the passing of Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, describing him as a visionary leader who guided Qatar to remarkable development and prosperity.
 
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said that Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju is visiting Qatar to convey condolences on behalf of the Government of India to the State of Qatar.
