Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today said that India has achieved a landmark milestone in its technological capabilities, crossing over 1,000 kilometers in quantum-secure communication. He added that it has surpassed half of its eight-year target in less than three years. The minister made these remarks at the inaugural session of the National Quantum Mission PRAGATI Q FOUNDRY event in New Delhi.
He said that the national quantum mission ecosystem currently encompasses 14 technical groups, 17 project teams, over 150 dedicated researchers, and 43 institutions spanning 17 states and two Union Territories. He highlighted the critical role of early industry engagement to ensure quantum innovations achieve commercial viability and long-term sustainability. Dr Singh added that the mission seeks to fortify national security while establishing India as a dominant global deep-tech hub heading toward the centenary of its independence in 2047.
During the event, the minister also launched 9 new startups under National Quantum Mission.
PRAGATI Q-Foundry 2026 is a national lab-to-market platform and investor meetup under the National Quantum Mission-NQM. The platform brings together researchers, startups, industry leaders, investors, policymakers, and technology partners to strengthen India’s quantum materials and devices ecosystem through collaboration, demonstration, and technology translation.
