India and Canada have agreed to fast-track negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), with the next round of talks set to commence 5th October.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that the next 90 days could be a defining period in bilateral relations. Mr Goyal said that the fourth round of negotiations for the proposed trade agreement with his Canadian counterpart was held in Mumbai last week.
The Minister said that during the meeting both countries had decided to accelerate the pace of negotiations.
On the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, Piyush Goyal said that more details of the act are emerging now. He said India will study them and discuss the matter at an appropriate time.
