India has announced an extension of a 500-million-dollar line of credit for road, health and defence projects in Guyana, as External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali in Antigua and Barbuda.
The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, energy, agriculture, infrastructure development, digital technology and capacity building.
In a social media post, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said India had already completed several development projects in Guyana and that the new line of credit would further strengthen the development partnership between the two countries.
The two countries also signed three agreements, including one on the supply and installation of manufacturing projects for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), and another on grant assistance for the implementation of Quick Impact Projects.
