India and Finland today discussed strengthening economic and financial cooperation, enhancing trade and investment ties, and expanding collaboration in digitalisation and emerging sectors. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met Finland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Riikka Purra. He is on an official visit to Finland to strengthen bilateral trade, investment and industry cooperation. They also explored opportunities to further deepen India-Finland engagement under the India-EU FTA.
The Minister also met Finland’s Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto. They discussed ways to deepen India-Finland cooperation in investments, innovation, Research and Development, startups and business partnerships. The two sides also explored collaboration across AI, 6G, quantum technologies, semiconductors, space and sustainability, while discussing how the India-EU FTA can further strengthen trade and investment between the countries. During the visit, Mr Goyal addressed the India-Finland Business Forum held at the House of the Estates in Helsinki. In his address, he highlighted the shared ambition of India and Finland to double bilateral trade by 2030 and emphasised the opportunities created by the India-EU Free Trade Agreement to expand trade, investment, manufacturing and innovation partnerships. The visit witnessed the signing of two institutional Memoranda of Understanding, ministerial-level discussions, and extensive engagements between Indian and Finnish industry across key sectors.
