The 80th Independence Day was celebrated in Maharashtra with patriotic fervour. National flag hoisting ceremonies were held at official functions across the state. Addressing the people on the occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the government’s commitment to development and welfare, particularly for farmers, workers, women and the youth. The celebrations also carried a message of collective responsibility towards building a stronger and more developed Maharashtra.
Meghalaya Governor C.H Vijayashankar hoisted the traditional Independence Day ‘At Home’ reception at Lok Bhavan, Shillong today, bringing together dignitaries and representatives from all walks of life to mark the 80th Independence Day of the country. The programme formed part of the customary Independence Day observances at Lok Bhavan. In Shillong, the festivities are extended beyond the main ceremonial programme. Lok Bhavan will remain open to the public on August 15 and 16, allowing visitors to experience cultural performances by artistes and troupes from Meghalaya and other parts of the country.
In Manipur, a state-level function was held at the 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground in Imphal West, where Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh hoisted the National Flag. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Khemchand appealed to all sections of society to rebuild mutual trust and live peacefully. Acknowledging the Central Government’s support in restoring normalcy, he emphasised that lasting stability and development can only be achieved through mutual trust, justice, and the participation of all communities.
In Bihar, the main state-level function held at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary unfurled the national flag and took the salute of the parade. On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced the formation of a high-level committee headed by a Patna High Court judge to monitor competitive examinations and ensure greater transparency in the examination process.
In Ladakh, the 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium in Kargil, where CEC LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhone, hoisted the National Flag and took salute on an impressive March Past.
Akashvani Kargil celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour at its Baroo premises, where Head of Office Er. Jamuna Prasad hoisted the National Flag. Officers, officials, their family members and children from adjoining areas participated in the ceremony with enthusiasm.
