The resumption of public transport along the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati route via National Highway-2 continued smoothly on its second day with more than 200 passengers leaving Imphal in a fleet of four buses and six Winger vehicles today.
The vehicles departed from the Inter-State Bus Terminal at Khuman Lampak in Imphal at around 10 am this morning. In a related development, the 125 passengers who had embarked on the inaugural journey yesterday safely reached Guwahati earlier today.
Our correspondent reports that the resumption of transport service along National Highway-2 comes after the Chief Minister, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen and Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen jointly announced the reopening of National Highways for free movement of all communities and the resumption of Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service on 8th August at Kangpokpi district.
