IMD warns of very heavy rainfall in Assam and Meghalaya today

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red-colour warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Assam and Meghalaya today. According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the day.
 
The Met Department has forecast heavy rainfall over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh till tomorrow. Similar weather conditions are expected over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Gangetic West Bengal, Kerala, Mahe, and parts of North East India during the period.    
 
The weather agency also predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Telangana for the next three days. 
 
Meanwhile, parts of Delhi witnessed light drizzle early in the morning. The IMD predicted a generally cloudy sky with very light to light rainfall at many places of the national capital during the day.
