IMD issues red alert for severe heat wave over East Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha

The India Meteorological Department has issued a red warning for severe heatwave conditions over East Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha today. The IMD has also issued an orange warning for heatwave conditions over Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha during the next five days. Similar conditions are likely to prevail over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh during the same period.

Hot and humid weather is expected to prevail over Gangetic West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today.

Meanwhile, the weather agency has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim until tomorrow. It has also forecast heavy rainfall over Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Rayalaseema during the next two days.

Further, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning over the next three days.
