IMD issues orange alert for heavy rainfall in north-east and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange-colour warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall over parts of north-east India and sub-Himalayan West Bengal for tomorrow. Heavy rainfall is also expected over Coastal Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, Odisha, and Telangana during the next two days. IMD said that the southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Karnataka and some parts of Chhattisgarh.

It said that conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, remaining parts of Telangana and Odisha, and some more parts of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar during next 48 hours.

The Met Department has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Jammu-Kashmir, Bihar, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh for tomorrow. Similar conditions are expected over Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Odisha, Maharashtra, Telangana and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next two days.

Meanwhile, the Met department predicted heatwave conditions over Chhattisgarh and eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, while severe heatwave and warm night conditions are expected over Vidarbha tomorrow. IMD said that a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by about two to three degrees Celsius is expected over Maharashtra during the next three days.

For Delhi, IMD has predicted a partly cloudy sky tomorrow. According to the Weather Agency, the maximum temperature will be around 38 to 40 degrees Celsius in the national capital, while the minimum temperature will hover around 24 to 26 degrees Celsius tomorrow.
