The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning predicting very heavy rainfall across Keralam. The intense downpour is expected to be accompanied by frequent thunderstorms, lightning, and strong, gusty winds. An orange alert has been sounded for 10 districts today, excluding Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur, and Palakkad. Weather officials warned that the districts under alert could receive heavy precipitation ranging between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm within the next 24 hours.
In response to the deteriorating weather conditions, authorities have declared a holiday for educational institutions in all districts today, with the exception of Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. Additionally, a strict fishing ban has been enforced today along the Keralam, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep coasts due to rough sea conditions and adverse weather.
