The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red-colour warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall over East Madhya Pradesh today. While IMD also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the region till Saturday.

The weather agency added that Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Vidarbha and Uttar Pradesh will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next three days. While several places over Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and West Madhya Pradesh are also expected to witness heavy rainfall during the next two days.

The Met Department further predicted thunderstorms, accompanied with lightning and gusty winds over Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Interior Karnataka today.

The weather department has forecast rain in several parts of Madhya Pradesh. Heavy rain is also possible in some districts. Akashvani reports that rain is likely in many parts of Madhya Pradesh today.

Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol and Sagar may receive rain. Some parts of Bhopal, Gwalior-Chambal and Narmadapuram divisions may also receive rain.

In Mandla, rain continued from Tuesday evening to Thursday morning. The weather has become cooler and people have got relief from the heat. The water level in rivers and streams may also rise.

In Satna, heavy rain has caused flooding and waterlogging in some areas. Relief work is continuing in the affected areas. So far, assistance of 18 lakh one thousand rupees has been given for 434 affected houses.

About 14 thousand 700 food packets and 2 thousand 368 tarpaulins have also been distributed. Health teams are also working in the affected areas. In Chitrakoot, more than 2 thousand 700 people have been checked. Across the district, about 6 thousand 125 people have received health check-ups.

The administration is keeping a close watch on the situation and providing necessary help in the affected areas.
