IMD forecasts heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across several states

The India Meteorological Department has issued red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall, over Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh for today. The weather agency said conditions are favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of the North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, the remaining parts of Haryana and Punjab, and some more parts of Rajasthan during the next three days.

The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over East Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next two days. It has also predicted heavy rainfall over Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and West Bengal today. The Met Department said thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Meanwhile, hot and humid weather conditions are expected to prevail at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya today.
