The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that conditions are favourable for further advance of the southwest monsoon into parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh during the next two days. The Met Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa over the next three days.
According to IMD, Assam, Meghalaya, Interior Karnataka, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Telangana are expected to witness heavy rainfall today. The weather agency has predicted thunderstorms and lightning over parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand and the Northeastern states today.
Similar conditions are expected over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, Konkan, Goa, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andaman and Nicobar Islands for the day. Meanwhile, heat wave conditions are expected to prevail over East Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha till tomorrow.
