IMD Forecasts Extremely Heavy Rainfall Over Northeast; Thunderstorms Likely in Several States

The India Meteorological Department has forecast extremely heavy rainfall over Assam and Meghalaya till 27th of this month. Similar conditions are expected to prevail over Arunachal Pradesh, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. According to IMD, heavy rainfall is expected to prevail over Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Konkan, Goa, Lakshadweep, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Tamil Nadu Puducherry, Karaikal and Telangana for the next four to five days. The weather agency predicted thundersquall conditions over Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha till tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Met Department has forecast thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Telangana and Uttarakhand for the next four to five days.

Meanwhile, IMD has predicted heat wave conditions in isolated pockets over Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh and Telangana Vidarbha till 25th of this month. It added that hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail over North Interior Karnataka and Odisha till tomorrow.
