India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast extremely heavy rainfall activity over Northeast India and Sikkim today. Heavy to very heavy rainfall activity is also likely to continue over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Madhya Pradesh till tomorrow. The weather agency has also predicted Isolated heavy rainfall is also very likely over East Rajasthan during the next four days and over Himachal Pradesh on the 15th and the 16th of July.
IMD said, today in Uttar Pradesh, thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain with heavy intensity rain over isolated places would occur over and adjoining areas of Deoband, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnaur, Hastinapur, Chandpur, Garhmukteshwar, Siyana, Anupshahar, Shikarpur, Pahasu, Narora.
The Met Department has forecast a decrease in rainfall activity over northwest India. However, rainfall activity is likely to continue over Gangetic Plains during the next four days. Rainfall activity over Central India and Peninsular India will be normal till the 14th of July and subdued from the 15th to the 16th of July and increase thereafter.
Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till tomorrow. IMD has issued red alert in West Bengal and Sikkim for today. It has asked people to avoid areas prone to waterlogging and stay away from vulnerable structures.
