India’s industrial output as measured by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) grew at a 23-month high of 7.3 percent in June this year. According to government data released today, all four broad sectors posted positive growth in June.
Manufacturing, which carries the heaviest weight in the index, grew 7.8 percent, while electricity and gas supply posted a 10.6 percent expansion. Water supply, sewerage and waste management rose by 6.1 per cent. Meanwhile, the mining and quarrying sector grew at a relatively modest pace of one per cent.
