The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi, will organise the seventh edition of Nadi Utsav from Thursday to Saturday. This year’s festival focuses on the Yamuna River. It will explore the Yamuna not only as a life-giving river but also as a living stream of memories, culture, history and imagination. AIR correspondent reports that several programs, exhibitions and workshops have been organised as a part of the event.

The three-day festival this year is themed on The Eternal Yamuna: Chronicles of Conflict, Biotic Healing and the Socio-Cultural Hearth. Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Member Secretary of IGNCA, Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi said that the vision behind this festival is to connect our bond with rivers in Indian culture. He said that the country’s traditional rituals, customs, fasts, and festivals are deeply tied to rivers. Therefore, the river is an integral part of everyone’s lives and serves as a source of inspiration for countrymen. He highlighted that the objective of this entire River Festival is to collectively reflect on rivers and deliberate on how to conserve them.

In addition to that , IGNCA will host a documentary film festival with the theme ‘River as an Archivist’. Renowned documentary filmmakers from across the country who make films on rivers are participating in the festival. The event will be inaugurated by the Delhi Lieutenant Governor, Taranjit Singh Sandhu. The inaugural ceremony will take place on Thursday, followed by continuous sessions on Friday and Saturday.
