ICoAS Plays Key Role in Advancing Vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat: Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh

Secretary, Department of Defence, Rajesh Kumar Singh today said that the Indian Cost Accounts Service (ICoAS) has consistently played a catalytic role in advancing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat through judicious cost optimization, prudent resource utilisation and robust financial oversight, particularly in the Defence Sector. He said this while addressing the Foundation Day celebration of ICoAS in New Delhi.
 
 
The Secretary also lauded the professionalism, analytical acumen and steadfast dedication of ICoAS officers in strengthening cost management practices across Government Ministries and Departments. 
 
 
Secretary, Department of Defence Production, Sanjeev Kumar also commended the unique and strategic role of ICoAS officers within the Defence Production ecosystem.
 
 
He called for reinvention of the service and its functioning in the changing defence acquisition scenarios and to develop deeper synergy between ICoAS officers and strategic sectors in furtherance of national self-reliance. He also highlighted the increasing relevance of cost accounting expertise in bolstering indigenous manufacturing capabilities, thereby not only reducing India’s reliance on imports, but also being competitive in the export market.
 
 
Further, Secretary, Department of Expenditure, V. Vualnam highlighted the valuable contribution of ICoAS officers towards effective cost management through a video message.
 
 
The celebration drew participation from senior officials across Ministries and Departments, reaffirming the role of ICoAS in policy formulation, cost management and efficient public expenditure. The theme this year was the role of ICoAS Officers in Cost-Optimization for Atmanirbhar Bharat.
