I&B Ministry mourns demise of three members of Information & Broadcasting fraternity

Information and Broadcasting Ministry has mourned the untimely demise of three members of the Information and Broadcasting fraternity who lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Mizoram yesterday. The vehicle carrying the officials fell into a gorge while they were on official duty. The deceased are Dr. Engam Pame, IIS, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau and Central Bureau of Communication, Imphal, Nampibou Marinmai, IIS, Director (News), Doordarshan Kendra and All India Radio, Aizawl, and H. Lianvela, MTS, Central Bureau of Communication, Field Office, Aizawl.
 
In a statement, the Ministry called the loss of the three colleagues as tragic and saddening. It said their untimely demise is a profound loss to their respective organisations and to the larger family of officials and professionals engaged in public communication and information dissemination across the country.
 
Dr. Engam Pame, 58, joined the Indian Information Service in 1994 after completing his MA in International Relations from the School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. During his more than three decades of service, he served in various capacities in Delhi, Imphal, Pune and Shillong, contributing to government communication, media coordination and public outreach. One of the longest-serving Information Service Group A officers from the Northeast, he brought extensive field experience and a deep understanding of the region’s diverse communication landscape to his assignments. Dr. Pame belonged to the Zeme Naga community of Tamenglong district, Manipur. He is survived by his wife, Ajuna Pame, and a son and daughter.
Nampibou Marinmai was an Indian Information Service officer and was serving as Director (News), Doordarshan Kendra and All India Radio, Aizawl. He was also Chairman of the Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC). He had earlier served as Public Relations Officer with the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, where he was associated with defence-related public relations, media reporting and communication.
 
H. Lianvela had joined government service in 1998. He was 52.
